On 12 April 2019 at approximately 0430 hours local time, an IED functioned on a residential street in Glenelg North, damaging two vehicles. Eastern District Police (EDP) officers responded and arrested a 39-year-old male suspect at his residence. According to EDP, the attack was targeted. The suspect was charged with use of an explosive device, property damage, breach of intervention order, and breach of bail. On 28 September 2019, a resident alerted Sunshine Coast police after an explosive device emplaced in her mailbox functioned. The explosion blew the metal front and rear of the mailbox over 13 feet away, destroying the brick and spreading debris over the yard. In another incident, a device emplaced at a Mountain Creek resident’s home functioned in front of the door. Over the past month, officers have responded to numerous incidents in the Maroochydore, Kawana Waters, and Caloundra areas, where approximately a dozen mailboxes have been targeted with crudely constructed explosive devices comprising empty drink cans, sparklers, and bottles. Police believe juveniles are behind the incidents as the recent increase in occurrences fall during school holidays.

TRIPwire, 24 October 2019
On 24 October 2019 at approximately 0600 hours local time, an individual discovered a suspicious device in the parking lot of an Ipswich sports club. Queensland Police closed down nearby residential streets while Queensland Police Bomb Squad officers examined the device, which they described as improvised and made primarily of a gas bottle, and executed render safe procedures. Police are continuing to investigate to determine if the device was viable and where it came from.

TRIPwire, 9 October 2020
On 8 October 2020, at approximately 0330 hours local time, improvised incendiary devices (IIDs), described as Molotov cocktails, were thrown at a residence in the town of Eaglehawk in Bendigo, Victoria, by two unknown suspects, setting the building ablaze. The Bendigo Police Service and Bendigo Fire Brigade responded to the scene and quickly extinguished the fire. The noise from the IIDs being thrown through the front window woke the three residents, who exited the building before it was engulfed. A neighbor’s closed-circuit television captured footage of the suspects throwing the IIDs. The Bendigo Crime Investigation Unit is investigating.

On 8 January 2019 at approximately 2330 hours local time, a 40-year-old male entered a bar in the southern suburbs of Adelaide and threw an improvised incendiary device (IID) over the counter. The IID malfunctioned and no injuries were reported. The South Australia Police responded and took the man into custody on 9 January. The suspect had previously been barred from the bar.
