DHS provides training and materials to our participating partners and certifies their administrators, trainers, and community liaisons in these BMAP positions through an accredited process at DHS’s Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, AL. DHS provides the funding to attend the BMAP Administrator/Trainer MGT-450-1 course for state, local, and private sector professionals. The course provides background training on improvised explosive devices (IEDs), homemade explosives (HME), and suspicious behaviors. It focuses on building an outreach plan to educate their communities on household products containing precursor chemicals, powers and IED components, what makes a purchase of these products suspicious, how to report it, how to sustain their program, and the administrative duties of the program.
