California: IIDs Thrown at Home

On 2 December 2024, at approximately 0145 hours local time, San Diego Police Department officers and Fire-Rescue crews responded to a residence on the 3600 block of Birch Street in the Southcrest area of San Diego after an unknown suspect threw multiple improvised incendiary devices (IIDs), described as Molotov cocktails, outside of the home, igniting a fire in the yard. At least one IID was made of a can with gasoline and a piece of cloth. The IIDs reportedly ignited another fire in a nearby alley. The fires were extinguished, and no injuries were reported.
