Hawaii: Incendiary Devices Identified as Cause of 10-Acre Brush Fire, 1 Arrested

On 1 October 2024, at approximately 1200 hours local time, a 10-acre wildfire was reported along Kamehameha Highway in Haleiwa. The Honolulu Fire Department and Honolulu Police Department responded to the scene, and firefighters extinguished the fire. On 2 October, investigators returned to the scene with a K-9, and an investigation revealed that multiple incendiary devices had functioned, igniting the fire. No structures were damaged, and no injuries were reported. A 76-year-old male suspect was arrested in connection to the incident.
