Nebraska: IED Found at Local Park

TRIPwire, 8 July 2019
On 6 July 2019 at approximately 1030 hours local time, the Lincoln Police Department responded to a call about a suspected explosive device found at a local park. The device, described as an IED, was discovered by a man at the park with his children. Lincoln Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene and determined the device was viable and meant to cause harm. The device was removed for further examination, and no injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
Afghanistan: VBIED Attack Kills 14, Injures 180

TRIPwire, 8 July 2019
On 7 July 2019, a vehicle-borne IED (VBIED) detonated in a police zone by a National Directorate of Security (NDS) compound in Ghazni, located south of Kabul. At least 8 security personnel and 6 civilians were killed in the explosion, and at least 180 people sustained injuries, including 60 children who were attending classes at a nearby private school. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying they targeted security personnel at the NDS office.
