Sweden: Club Destroyed by Fire after Possible Detonation

On 26 June 2019 at approximately 0300 hours local time, police responded to reports of a fire that authorities believe was caused by an explosive device at a club in Örebro in central Sweden. The ensuing fire destroyed the entire building, but no one was injured. Police suspect that the explosion was a deliberate act directed at people with criminal links. No further information was provided on the cause of the explosion, and an investigation is ongoing.

Missouri: Suspected IED Discovered in Vehicle

On 24 June 2019 at approximately 1700 hours local time, a Goose Creek officer reported the discovery of a suspected pipe bomb in a vehicle during a traffic stop. A St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit picked up the scent of an explosive device, and deputies requested the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Bomb Squad. At the time of reporting, the investigation is ongoing.

South Korea: Suspected VBIED Attack on U.S. Embassy

On 25 June 2019 at approximately 1800 hours local time, a rental vehicle with 30 butane gas canisters in the trunk rammed into the gates of the U.S. Embassy in Seoul. No one was injured by the vehicle-borne IED (VBIED), and the gates were only slightly damaged. Local police arrested a 40-year-old suspect at the scene. Police have not stated a possible motive, although President Trump is scheduled to visit the country on Saturday.

United Kingdom: Explosive Device Found in Alley

On 24 June 2019 at approximately 0730 hours local time, police responded to reports of a suspicious object in an alley on the outskirts of Belfast in Dunmurry. An army bomb squad determined the object was a viable explosive device. This incident follows a series of bomb scares in Northern Ireland over the weekend.

Saudi Arabia: 1 Killed, 21 Injured in UAS Attack on Airport

On 23 June 2019, 1 person died and 21 others were injured after an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) hit the parking lot of the Abha International Airport. Eighteen vehicles and a restaurant were also damaged in the explosion. Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen claimed responsibility for the attack on the airport, which is located 200 km from the border with Yemen.
