On 24 June 2019 at approximately 0730 hours local time, police responded to reports of a suspicious object in an alley on the outskirts of Belfast in Dunmurry. An army bomb squad determined the object was a viable explosive device. This incident follows a series of bomb scares in Northern Ireland over the weekend.

Saudi Arabia: 1 Killed, 21 Injured in UAS Attack on Airport

On 23 June 2019, 1 person died and 21 others were injured after an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) hit the parking lot of the Abha International Airport. Eighteen vehicles and a restaurant were also damaged in the explosion. Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen claimed responsibility for the attack on the airport, which is located 200 km from the border with Yemen.

Ireland: IID Attack Destroys Private Residence

On 20 June 2019 at approximately 2330 hours local time, three private residences were attacked by two IIDs in Drogheda. One of the three houses was completely destroyed, but no injuries were reported. The attacks followed the shooting of a man earlier that evening in Termon Abbey. Garda Police believe the incidents are related to a gang feud that has plagued the area since July 2018. The investigation is ongoing.

Belgium: Explosives Found Near Railway

On 20 June 2019, officers from the Brussels West police zone discovered a small plastic bag containing a small amount of unspecified explosives near a train track in Jette. All rail traffic was suspended in the area while the Explosive Ordnance Removal and Disposal Service examined and rendered safe the explosives without incident. Belgian authorities have arrested one suspect in connection with the explosives, but do not believe this was a terror-related incident. The investigation is ongoing.
