Pakistan: IED Detonates, Injuring Two Police Personnel

On 18 March 2019, an IED detonated alongside a police vehicle in Dera Ismail Khan, injuring two police officers and one civilian. Dera Ismail Khan District Police reported the IED was emplaced on a bicycle and detonated as the police vehicle drove past while on routine patrol. Authorities stated the IED contained roughly 18 pounds of explosive material. The investigation is ongoing.
Israel: Balloon-Borne IED Lands near Village

On 19 March 2019, an IED attached to balloons landed in northern Negev. The Israeli Combat Engineering Corps responded to the incident and rendered safe the device. Media sources believe Hamas launched the device from the Gaza Strip. This technique has been commonly used by the terrorist organization since early January 2019. No injuries were reported. There is no further information on the device.

Ohio: IED Discovered During Investigation of Suspicious Vehicle

On 18 March 2019, a Lucas County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a suspicious vehicle report in Swanton and discovered an IED inside the vehicle. The Toledo Police Department NW Ohio Bomb Squad removed the device, which was described as an illegal pyrotechnic device consisting of a large firework with a protruding fuse. Two individuals associated with the vehicle were taken into custody.
