Massachusetts: Mailbox Explodes in Residential Neighborhood

On 17 April 2019 at approximately 0700 hours local time, Methuen Police Department (MPD) officers responded to reports of an explosive functioning in a residential mailbox, damaging multiple mailboxes and a nearby vehicle but causing no injuries. According to MPD, a pyrotechnic device caused the explosion. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

France: 270 IIDs Found in Building Lobby

On 17 April 2019, French media sources reported that between 5 to 6 April, the Municipal Police of Bastia (MPB) received a tip regarding suspicious behavior that led to the discovery of 270 IIDs in a building lobby. MPB received the tip after residents of the building heard suspicious noises coming from the staircase. While on scene, MPB also discovered petanque balls filled with explosive material and stones. No injuries were reported and the devices were removed. The investigation is ongoing.
