On 24 April 2006, three explosive devices were hidden in bags in Dahab, Egypt. The first two explosions occurred in front of a bar and cafeteria while the third occurred in front of a supermarket. The three blasts left 18 people dead and 87 others wounded. The fugitive terrorist leader Nasr Khamis al-Malahi, who also carried out attacks in Taba and Sharm al-Shaykh, was responsible for the attack.

On 23 April 2019, the FBI, Oakland Police Department officers, and Alameda County Sheriff’s deputies discovered a potential IED while raiding a suspected serial bank robber’s home. The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad examined the device and determined it was a hoax device. The suspect was arrested on robbery and first-degree drug charges.
