Ohio: Two Injured after Igniting an IED

On 20 March 2019 at approximately 1945 hours local time, two juvenile boys were injured after igniting an IED described as a modified pyrotechnic device in an alley near college off-campus housing. Oxford Police Department officers responded. Both juveniles were taken to the hospital to treat their wounds. Butler County Bomb Squad technicians recovered post-blast evidence for further lab analysis. There is no further information on the device and an investigation is ongoing.

Russia: Explosives Cache Discovered in Stavropol

On 19 March 2019, a sanatorium patient discovered a cache of explosives and weapons in a forest outside the southwestern city of Stavropol. The cache contained 8 hand grenades, a TNT explosive device, smoke bombs, a pistol, and 300 rounds of ammunition. Russian EOD technicians responded to the scene and rendered safe the explosives. An investigation is underway to determine the origin of the cache.

Pakistan:  IED Detonates, Injuring Two Police Personnel

On 18 March 2019, an IED detonated alongside a police vehicle in Dera Ismail Khan, injuring two police officers and one civilian. Dera Ismail Khan District Police reported the IED was emplaced on a bicycle and detonated as the police vehicle drove past while on routine patrol. Authorities stated the IED contained roughly 18 pounds of explosive material. The investigation is ongoing.
