New Hampshire: Man Throws IID at Ex-Girlfriend’s Home

On 2 May 2024, at approximately 0230 hours local time, surveillance video captured a 23-year-old man allegedly throwing an improvised incendiary device (IID), described as Molotov cocktail made from a beer bottle and a wick, at his ex-girlfriend’s home in Laconia. No injuries were reported, but the home sustained minor damages. The incident occurred after the suspect drove six hours to burn down his ex-girlfriend’s house after she ended their online relationship.

Massachusetts: IIDs Thrown into Home, 1 Arrested

On the afternoon of 16 April 2024, an arson incident was reported in the 20 block of West Main Street in Boston’s Mattapan neighborhood. A male suspect broke the front window of a home while a woman was inside and set a small fire. The suspect, who was known to the victim, then broke a window in the rear of the home and threw in two improvised incendiary devices (IIDs), described as two plastic bottles containing an accelerant inside of a shopping bag. The fire caused material damages but did not spread to any neighboring housing units.

Massachusetts: BMM and Drugs Found in Home, 1 Arrested

On 8 April 2024, at approximately 1030 hours local time, Chatham Police Department officers and Fire Department personnel responded to a home in the 1600 block of Main Street for a welfare check, where they discovered the remains of a man and woman believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and an overdose, respectively. Police also made contact with a 43-year-old male resident who was found sleeping in an upstairs bedroom and removed him from the residence.

Massachusetts: Explosive Device Functioned at Satanic Temple

On 8 April 2024, at approximately 0414 hours local time, an unidentified suspect threw an unspecified explosive device onto the front porch of the Satanic Temple in Salem. The device functioned and caused minor damage to the porch and side of the building. No one was inside the building at the time of the event, and the incident was not discovered by staff until later that afternoon. The Salem Police Department responded to the scene and the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad was called in to assist. They swept the building with a K9 unit and found no other hazardous material.

Rhode Island: Multiple Explosions Reported to Law Enforcement, 1 Arrested

On 3 March 2024, at approximately 1730 hours local time, Hopkinton Police Department (HPD) received numerous reports of multiple explosions prompting officers to respond to a residence on Clarks Falls Road. At the scene, a 20-year-old male suspect was identified by police as having allegedly functioned binary explosives in an illegal manner. No additional device details have been released. Bomb technicians from the Rhode Island State Bomb Squad and personnel from both the Rhode Island State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Ashaway Fire Department were called in for assistance.

Rhode Island: IID Thrown at Vehicle, 3 Arrested

On 27 April 2023, at approximately 0145 hours local time, Cranston Police Department (CPD) officers responded to Greenwood Street after a suspect in a moving vehicle threw an improvised incendiary device (IID), described as a Molotov cocktail, at a parked van. No further device details have been released and no injuries were reported. On 5 May 2023, CPD arrested three individuals, a 19-year-old female, a 20-year-old female, and one male juvenile, in connection to the incident. The three suspects are facing arson, assault, weapons, and conspiracy charges.
