Rhode Island: 2 Pipe Bombs Found in Residence

On 6 April 2023, at approximately 1545 hours local time, West Warwick/Coventry Regional SWAT Team, East Providence SWAT Team, Rhode Island State Fire Marshal’s Office Bomb Squad, and West Warwick Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence on Renehan Court as part of an investigation into possession of IEDs and bomb-making material and discovered two pipe bombs. No further device details have been released. A 62-year-old male suspect was arrested and charged with possession of materials convertible to a bomb.

New Hampshire: Smoke Bomb Emplaced in Plaza

On 25 March 2023, at approximately 2005 hours local time, Concord Police Department officers and Concord Fire Department crews responded to reports of a suspicious device at the State House in the Capital Plaza area. The New Hampshire State Police Explosive Unit responded to assist and determined the device was “a smoke-style device designed to generate smoke rather than an explosion.” No further device details were provided. The investigation is ongoing.

Maine: Explosive Devices Discovered During Home Search

On 19 November 2022, at approximately 1000 hours local time, Maine State Police (MSP) troopers executed a search warrant at a residence in Addison as part of a homicide investigation and discovered several explosive devices, described as “destructive devices”. No further device details have been released. Personnel with Maine Fire Marshal’s Office and technicians with the Bangor Police Department Bomb Squad and MSP Bomb Squad responded to assist and rendered the devices safe. The investigation is ongoing.
