On 11 March 2019, the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad was called to a residence in the Posen area after blasting caps were found in the attic during remodeling and safely removed them.

Ohio: Pipe Bomb Discovered in Yard

On 1 March 2019, a Sylvania Township resident discovered an IED along the side of a road. Sylvania Township Police responded, and the Northwest Ohio Bomb Squad (NOBS) rendered safe the device. According to the NOBS, the device was a PVC pipe filled with ball bearings, .22-caliber ammunition, and black powder, and it failed to detonate. The investigation into the emplacement of the device is ongoing.

Michigan: Two Men Arrested with IED

On 1 March 2019 at approximately 1545 hours local time, White Pigeon Police Department officers discovered an IED in a vehicle during an unrelated traffic stop. The Michigan State Police Bomb Squad rendered safe the device. A 35-year-old male and 20-year-old male were arrested for possession and transportation of explosives, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of methamphetamine. There was no further information on the device.
