Illinois: Man Threatens to Blow Up Bomb During Traffic Stop; Explosives Device Found in Home, 1 Arrested

On Monday, 31 March, 2025, during a traffic stop in Illinois conducted by the Iroquois County Sherrif’s Office, a suspect threatened to detonate a bomb in the backseat before he ran to a nearby home. Deputies later found the suspect in the home and arrested him.  The East Central Illinois Bomb Squad found a device in the home and confirmed the explosive was real. The bomb squad then defused it.  The suspect faces charges of possession of explosives and aggravated battery to an officer.

Kentucky: IEDs Discovered During Traffic Stop; 2 Arrested

On Monday, 31 March 2025, state troopers in Anderson County, Kentucky, conducted a traffic stop that led to the discovery of homemade explosives, including two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), in a vehicle. Both the driver and the passenger were arrested. A subsequent search of one suspect's home revealed more explosives, firearms, and materials for manufacturing IEDs. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspects remain in custody.

Texas: Multiple IEDs Discovered in Park

On Sunday, 30 March 2025, at approximately 1130 local time, homemade explosive devices were discovered in a wooded area near Wynne Park by a homeless individual. Police confirmed the presence of multiple live explosives, including pipe bombs, near an open suitcase. Bomb technicians from the Garland Police Department and FBI rendered the devices safe. Authorities are investigating the origin of the explosives and canvassed the area for additional devices.

Kansas: Explosives Discovered at Residence; 2 Arrested

On 28 March 2025, at approximately 1000 local time, the Stafford County Kansas Sherrif’s Office executed a search warrant in Macksville, KS. According to media sources, law enforcement recovered firearms, ammunition, explosives, crossbows, fentanyl, methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, electronic devices, 17 dogs, 3 pigs, 2 pythons, and a salamander from inside the private residence.

Texas: IEDs Manufactured in Residential Area; 1 Arrested

On 27 March 2025, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit, the San Antonio Police Department Bomb Squad, ATF, and the FBI executed a search warrant on the 14000 block of Wild Cat Lair and discovered evidence of explosive weapons and improvised explosive devices.

Indiana: Suspected Drug Dealer leads police on high-speed chase, BMM found at residence; 1 Arrested

On 27 March 2025, at approximately 1200 local time, a suspect led police on a high-speed chase with his one-year-old child in his van. Police later executed a search warrant on the suspects residence and found four sticks of dynamite, 106.8 gross grams of suspected psychedelic mushrooms, and 1.5 gross grams of suspected fentanyl. The Porter County Bomb Squad was called and safely removed the dynamite.

North Carolina: IED and BMM Discovered in Rural Home; 1 Arrested

On 23 March 2025, Wake County Deputies responded to reports of gunfire in Raleigh on Banks Road. When officers arrived, they found a metal pipe bomb, bomb making materials (BMM), methamphetamine, and other controlled substances. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and their bomb squad responded to clear the scene. A 43-year-old suspect was arrested. No further information on the pipe bomb or the BMM was available.

Kentucky: Explosive Device Discovered at Crime Scene: 1 Arrested

On 12 March 2025, at approximately 0720 local time, Louisville Metro Police responded to Winter Spring Ct. for reports of gunshots when they located a victim who had been shot. The victim later died from his injuries.  During a search of the crime scene, an officer discovered an explosive device under the victim’s car. When officers searched the suspect’s vehicle, they found a firearm, handwritten notes, and multiple items consistent with manufacturing explosives.  The victim’s son was arrested in connection with the murder.

Vermont: Pipe Bomb Discovered During Traffic Stop; 1 Arrested

On 17 March 2025, at approximately 2215 local time, Vermont State Troopers discovered a pipe bomb during the arrest of a suspect following a traffic stop in Royalton Vermont. Investigators stated the suspect had warrants out for his arrest. During a search of the car, troopers stated they found a pipe bomb and requested the FBI and bomb squad to assist. No further information on the device is available at this time.

California: Explosive Used to Rob ATM

On 19 March 2025, at approximately 2325 local time, two men allegedly used an explosive device to burglarize an ATM inside a big box store in West Hills. The Los Angeles Police Department claimed the suspects used either a gas or an explosive device to break into the ATM and take an undisclosed amount of money. The bomb squad was requested to conduct a post blast investigation. No arrests have been made.
