Pennsylvania: Improvised explosive devices found in home of man arrested at rally in West Chester; One Arrested

A man accused of carrying weapons at a rally in West Chester on Saturday is facing additional charges after pipe bombs were allegedly found in his home on June 16, 2025. Police state they found 13 improvised explosive devices, several sketches of explosive devices, tactical vests, and other items in his garage while executing a search warrant at his home.  The Montgomery County bomb squad moved the bombs to a secure area.

Ohio: Person injured after Homemade Explosive Detonates at Residence

On June 28, 2025, police and fire were called to Frank's Mobile Home Park in the Springfield Township for a report of an explosion in one of the homes.  Upon arrival, authorities located a person who had significant injuries to their hand and transported them to a nearby hospital.  While investigating, it was found that the individual had constructed multiple explosive devices, and investigators recovered materials and components used to build explosive devices within the home, per authorities. The Summit County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad was requested to gather and di

Colorado: Law Enforcement Recovers Homemade Explosive; one arrested

On June 22, 2025, at approximately 9:46 p.m., Colorado Springs Police responded to a report of shots fired in the vicinity of 600 Grey Eagle Circle North in northwest Colorado Springs. As law enforcement checked the area, reports state they encountered a suspect, lighting what police initially believed were fireworks in the parking lot in the 300 block of South Rockrimmon Boulevard.

Kentucky: Device “went off” at Louisville Hotel, one arrested

A man is facing more than 40 charges after police said a device "went off" at a hotel in Louisville, KY, causing a fire. Police said around 12:20 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2025, hotel staff were trying to check on a guest who hadn't checked out. When they tried to open the door, an "unknown device went off," police said.  It was reported that the Louisville Metro Police Department Bomb Squad located two suspected explosive devices inside the room. ATF and St. Matthews Fire also assisted.

Arizona: FBI and ATF Are Assisting After Three Explosive Devices Found in Sahuarita

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department stated two IEDs were found in Sahuarita on Friday, June 20, 2025. A similar device was located in the same general area on June 13, 2025.  The FBI and ATF joined the investigation after the three explosive devices were found in Sahuarita.

Alabama: Military-style devices found in Shelby County, one arrested

A Shelby County man faces several charges after deputies found what they call explosives and multiple suspicious devices at a home on South Shades Crest Road. Investigators say the devices were located June 18, 2025, during a court-ordered mental health pickup and search warrant at the home. The Army was called in to remove the devices and everything found, was safely removed.

Washington: Man killed in North Whidbey explosion

On June 17, 2025, a 42-year-old man was killed at a residence on Strawberry Point Road in Oak Arbor, WA, in an explosion that occurred while he was building explosive devices, per the Island County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO). According to the ICSO, it is estimated that between 1.5 and 2 pounds of explosives caused the explosion. Two people sustained minor injuries. Afterward, investigators conducted a search of the victim’s residence on Torpedo Road on North Whidbey and found 25 pounds of illegal explosive devices, as well as a cargo container filled with commercial fireworks.

Kentucky: Explosion leaves two injured at Paducah area church

On June 16, 2025, two construction workers were injured in an explosion that occurred at Lone Oak First Baptist Church in Paducah, KY, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO). After an investigation, it appears that the explosion was not intentional and that it had been caused by fireworks being used in a manner in which they are not designed according to the MCSO. Investigators believe that a sparkler bomb was made by one worker and unwittingly cut by another coworker, causing the explosion.

California: San Jose Police Department Seizes 3,400 pounds of Illegal Fireworks and Destructive Devices, three arrested

Per authorities, three men were arrested and approximately 3,400 pounds of illegal fireworks and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered in recent undercover operations in San Jose.  On June 16, 2025, at approximately 6 p.m., San Jose Police Department (SJPD) officers executed a search warrant at a storage facility in the 200 block of West Capitol Expressway and recovered approximately 1,320 pounds of illegal fireworks and explosives.  A suspect was arrested on multiple felony charges related to the possession, sale, and transportation of destructive devices and i

Oregon: Possible improvised explosive shuts down I-5, one arrested

On June 19, 2025, in Portland, OR, a 38-year-old man was arrested after police briefly closed Interstate 5 (I-5) on June 14, 2025, due to a “suspicious device,” according to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB). On I-5 at the Northeast Failing Street pedestrian bridge, the suspect reportedly threw construction cones, boards with nails sticking out, and other objects into traffic, and slashed the tires of vehicles when the drivers stopped. He also had a large stop sign on a portable stand. The suspect reportedly threatened drivers with a screwdriver and claimed he had a bomb.
