Mexico: Explosive Device Functioned Near Restaurant, 9 Injured

On 9 June 2024, at approximately 1835 hours local time, an explosive device functioned in the El Zócalo town square in Acapulco, Guerrero State. Nine people were injured in the attack. Mexican National Guard personnel and local police responded to the scene. Officials have not yet released incident details, although open source reporting suggests that either unknown person(s) threw an explosive device into the crowded square or an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) dropped an explosive device. No device details have been released. An investigation is ongoing.
