Florida: Army Veteran Arrested for Emplacing IED at VA Hospital

On 4 June 2019, Genoa Police Department officers executed a search warrant on a suspect’s home in Genoa and removed two IEDs, weapons, and ammunition. The search warrant followed the 3 June discovery of a half stick of dynamite covered in nails and duct tape inside the glove compartment of the suspect’s vehicle when authorities responded to a road rage incident. No injuries were reported. The suspect was arrested and charged with three counts of unlawful use of weapons. The investigation is ongoing.
On 3 June 2019 at approximately 0100 hours local time, officers from Midland Police Department (MPD) responded to reports of a suspected IED inside a vehicle at a commercial parking lot. Upon arrival, MPD officers noticed a suspicious man in the parking lot and searched his vehicle, where they discovered the suspected IED. MPD Bomb Squad technicians removed the device for further examination. No injuries were reported, and the suspect was arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
On 5 June 2019 after approximately 0730 hours local time, officials discovered a hoax IED on a Shalimar express train that originated from West Bengal and arrived at the Kurla suburb of Mumbai. A member of the cleaning crew discovered a box beneath a seat and informed the police after the passengers vacated the train, which prompted evacuation of the entire train station. Initial reports by railway officials described the suspected explosives as resembling gelatin sticks filled with pyrotechnic powder.
On 31 May 2019, agents from Pennsylvania State Parole discovered pyrotechnic devices and suspected synthetic cannabinoids in a backpack in a Lancaster area residence.
On 1 June 2019, a 31-year-old male was arrested after a traffic stop and search of his vehicle found an IED, methamphetamines, and firearms.
On 3 June 2019 at approximately 0700 hours local time, an IED detonated roughly 320 yards from the army base at the Thailand–Malaysian border in the Waeng District. Fragmentation from the device injured one civilian.
