On 25 April 2023, at approximately 0200 hours local time, the Gaston County Police Department and Gaston County Fire Marshal’s Office responded to a fire at two businesses in a shopping center in Gastonia that were reportedly ignited by improvised incendiary devices (IIDs). No further device details were provided. No injuries were reported, and several businesses sustained damage. The investigation is ongoing.
Florida: Reported Explosive Device Found in Residence, 1 Arrested

On 25 April 2023, Chiefland Police Department officers responded to a residence on Northeast 2nd Street due to reports of a possible explosive device. The Levy County Sheriff’s Office and Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad responded to assist, discovered several objects, and rendered them safe before determining they were not dangerous. No further details on the objects have been released. A suspect was arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
Kentucky: Pipe Bomb Functioned on Trail

On 11 April 2023, at approximately 1230 hours local time, Harlan County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to an ATV trail in Harlan County following the discovery of pipe bomb that had already functioned. No further device details have been released. The Kentucky State Police Hazardous Device Unit responded to assist and collected the discharged fragmentation and remains of the device for further examination. No injuries were reported, and the incident remains under investigation.
Mississippi: Military Ordnance Discovered on Beach

On 3 April 2023, Long Beach City Police Department officers and Biloxi Bomb Squad technicians responded after a Long Beach resident picking up trash on the beach found a military ordnance, described as a marine signal flare containing red phosphorus. Bomb squad technicians used sand and water to stabilize the ordnance before removing it from the beach for offsite disposal.
