On 3 March 2023, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office (STPSO) deputies responded to a residence in Slidell after a juvenile sustained serious injury to multiple parts of his body when a pipe bomb he was constructing in his backyard functioned prematurely in his hand. No further device details have been released. STPSO Hazardous Device Unit technicians responded to the scene to assist. No other injuries or damage was reported. The investigation is ongoing.

Texas: Explosive Device Discovered at Yard Sale

On 21 February 2023, at approximately 0800 hours local time, a resident on U.S. Highway 190 flagged down a Kempner Police Department officer regarding an item he purchased at a yard sale, which turned out to be an explosive device. No further device details were provided. Kempner Volunteer Fire Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office, and Fort Hood Explosive Ordnance Disposal Teams responded to assist. The device was rendered safe and taken into ATF custody for further investigation.

Arkansas: Explosive Devices, BMM Discovered Inside Residence

On 31 January 2023, FBI and ATF agents executed a search warrant at a Fort Smith residence and discovered multiple explosive devices and possible bomb-making material (BMM). No further details on the devices or the BMM have been released. The explosives were rendered safe by federal agents. According to media sources, the 31-year-old male suspect was able to evade capture. The suspect remains at large, and the investigation is ongoing.

On 14 January 2023, at approximately 0000 hours local time, Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence on South Henney Road and Southeast 29th Street after unknown suspects detonated an explosive device inside the mailbox. No further device details have been released, but surveillance footage shows a suspect placing the explosives inside the mailbox, followed by two explosions. Oklahoma County Bomb Squad technicians responded to assist. No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
