Idaho: Suspect Attempts to Detonate IED Near Train Car, 1 Arrested

On 1 January 2025, at approximately 1800 hours local time, Payette Police Department officers responded to the 600 block of North 8th Street in Payette following reports that an individual was attempting to initiate an IED—described as a pipe bomb made from PVC pipe that was filled with black powder taken out of pyrotechnics—near a train car. The Nampa Police Department’s Bomb Squad and FBI were called to the scene to assist. Bomb technicians removed the device and disposed of it via a controlled detonation.
