Mississippi: Possible explosive device discovered at business

On June 3, 2025, an explosive device was found at a business in the industrial park per the Olive Branch Police Department (OBPD). OBPD received a call about a possible explosive device at the loading dock of the business at around 9:15 a.m. Authorities evacuated the area and told the public that the intersection of DeSoto Road and Metro Drive was closed due to police activity. OBPD said the Shelby County Sheriff's Office and the FBI both joined in the investigation, and authorities eventually sent in a robot to examine the suspect object.

Washington: Weapons cache and armor discovered in residence, two arrested

On June 2, 2025, two men were arrested in Washington state with an arsenal that included dozens of guns, explosives and body armor, along with Nazi paraphernalia per investigators. The suspects were reportedly former military members who allegedly attacked a soldier with a hammer while stealing gear from Joint Base Lewis-McChord last weekend. The FBI executed a search warrant at a home shared by the defendants on Monday and arrested them. Authorities said agents seized about 35 firearms at the home, including short-barreled rifles and an MG42 machine gun.

Missouri: Grenade found in cemetery

On June 1, 2025, the Independence Police Department (IPD) responded to Pitcher Cemetery on reports of a grenade being found. The IPD Bomb Squad responded, found the grenade and determined that it was real, though it did not contain any explosives. The grenade was removed safely and without incident. It’s not clear where the grenade originated, or how long it was in the cemetery.

Pennsylvania: Two grenades discovered near donation bins

On June 1, 2025, according to the Newberry Township Police, two devices were found near donation bins in Newberry Commons. According to police, the devices, which resembled grenades, were found by a community member in a laundry basket along with explosives-related literature. The Pennsylvania State Police Hazardous Device and Explosives Unit was called to investigate. The devices were determined to be inert.

Michigan: Arrest Made After IEDs Found In A Home During Search

On May 30, 2025, Emmett Township Department of Public Safety officers, in collaboration with the Battle Creek Police Department Gang Suppression Unit, arrested a suspect with multiple outstanding felony warrants after a search warrant was conducted at the suspect’s Emmett Township residence, and police allegedly found firearms and two improvised explosive devices. The Battle Creek Police Department Bomb Squad responded and safely removed the devices.

Colorado: Denver Police Seeking Help Finding Suspect in Firework Case That Injured Juvenile

On May 29, 2025, at approximately 9:10 p.m. local time in the 3600 block of West Kentucky Avenue, a suspect allegedly threw or launched a pyrotechnic device, reported as most likely a consumer firework, and shattered a driver’s side rear passenger window of a vehicle when it exploded, seriously injuring a juvenile who was inside the vehicle. The Denver Police Department reported that the suspect fled on foot and is seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

Missouri: Man Dies After Home Explosion in Florissant

On May 28, 2025, at approximately 1625 hours local time, an explosion occurred at a residence in Florissant, Missouri. One person later died from the injuries obtained in the explosion. The Florissant Police Department, Saint Louis Regional Bomb and Arson Unit, and other police and fire agencies responded.

Oklahoma: Police Discover Homemade Explosive Device During Traffic Stop

On May 23, 2025, Broken Arrow Police allegedly discovered a homemade explosive device during a traffic stop just after midnight. While searching the vehicle, police found what appeared to be a PVC pipe sealed with end caps and a visible fuse. The Tulsa Police Department Bomb Squad responded to the scene, confirmed it was an improvised explosive device, and safely destroyed the device. Illinois: Police Investigate McLeansboro Homemade Firework Explosion

On May 15, 2025, McLeansboro Police responded to an explosion at a residence on the 200 block of North Locust Street. According to police, the incident involved an individual who had detonated what he described as a "homemade firework.” The explosion reportedly created an 18-inch crater in the ditch in front of the individual’s home. While investigating, police found a large number of undetonated items. The Illinois Secretary of State Bomb Squad was called to the scene, and, operating under a search warrant, seized all other explosive material.

Texas: IED Reportedly Found in Room of Teen Suspect Accused of Terrorism

On May 12, 2025, a San Antonio woman was arrested and charged with Aiding in the Commission of Terrorism after her son was allegedly found to have been plotting an attack against a local middle school. The woman was taken into custody for buying ammunition and “aiding in terrorism” after her son allegedly showed up at Jeremiah Rhodes Middle School on May 12th, wearing a mask, camouflage jacket, and tactical pants. He has since been charged with terrorism.
