Washington: Pipe Bomb Discovered Near Store

On 5 November 2022, Pierce County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) deputies responded to an auto parts store in Parkland after an employee discovered a pipe bomb, described as “a metal pipe capped at both ends and wrapped in tape”, inside a duffle bag near the store. According to deputies, the device had a blast similar to a hand grenade. No further device details were released. PCSD Bomb Squad technicians responded to assist, relocated the device to the department’s firing range, and rendered it safe. The investigation is ongoing.
