Germany: Man Abandons Bag Containing Explosives in Subway Station

On the afternoon of 30 October 2024, police officers attempted to stop a man for a routine ID check at the Neukölln subway station in Berlin, which caused the man to drop his bag and flee the scene. Authorities examined the bag and determined that it contained explosives, reported by a news media source as triacetone triperoxide (TATP), although the type of explosive was neither confirmed nor denied by law enforcement. The bag was taken to a nearby park and rendered safe via controlled detonation. An investigation is ongoing.
