On 19 July 2024, Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) deputies executed a search warrant at an apartment on Main Street in Schaghticoke and discovered two explosive devices, cocaine, fentanyl, packaging materials, scales, and an unspecified amount of U.S. currency.
On 24 July 2024, Kuna Police Department officers responded to a residence near East 4th Street and Orchard Avenue in Kuna, where they discovered explosive devices and suspicious chemicals in the home's garage. The Boise Police Department Bomb Squad, FBI, and Idaho National Guard 101st Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team were called in to assess, process, and remove the devices and chemicals. The homeowner, a 37-year-old man, was not present during the investigation.
On 22 July 2024, Commerce Police Department officers discovered an improvised incendiary device (IID), described as a Molotov cocktail, masks, bats, guns with homemade silencers, knives, and camouflage clothing in a vehicle belonging to a 36-year-old suspect at his former employer in Commerce after he returned for a second time to demand his job back. The suspect had originally entered the car dealership on 20 July to demand his job back, brandishing a gun and threatening an employee, but left the dealership before authorities arrived.
On 29 July 2024, Colorado River Sheriff’s Station deputies, with the assistance of the Riverside County Probation Department, conducted a probation compliance check at a residence on the 17000 block of Blythe Way in the unincorporated area of Blythe. At the residence, authorities discovered two unspecified explosive devices, causing other homes in the vicinity to be evacuated. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Hazardous Device Team responded to assist, rendered the devices safe, and removed them for later disposal.
On 27 July 2024, at approximately 1145 hours local time, Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of an explosion in the area near Peaceful Valley Road in East Sonora. At the scene, deputies discovered materials consistent with the manufacture of IEDs and an injured juvenile, who was airlifted to a local medical facility for treatment. Joint Calaveras/San Joaquin County Bomb Squad technicians were called to the scene to assist. No additional details about the device or the incident have been released. The investigation is ongoing.
On 26 July 2024, Limestone County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) deputies encountered a man and a woman pushing a motorcycle along Zehner Road in Athens while investigating a report of a stolen motorcycle. Deputies attempted to contact the pair, but the suspects fled the scene, dropping two backpacks in the process. Deputies recovered the backpacks and discovered what they believed to be an IED inside one of them. The Huntsville Police Department’s Bomb Squad was called to the scene. Bomb squad technicians examined the device, confirmed it to be an IED, and rendered it safe.
On 29 July and 30 July 2024, Glarus Cantonal Police officers arrested four men between the ages of 17 and 55 in Glarus for their alleged connection to a series of eight explosions in Glarus South between 1 June and 29 July 2024. Law enforcement officials determined that pipe bombs had been functioned on road galleries and tunnels, causing material damage to infrastructure. Police also stated that they had seized a large quantity of unspecified explosives, weapons, and narcotics during the searches. No further details have been released.
On 29 July 2024, Carabinieri personnel from the Castellammare di Stabia Company responded to an area of Santa Maria la Carità in Naples following a report of the discovery of an explosive device. The area was secured, and the Provincial Carabinieri Command of Naples’s Bomb Squad responded to the scene along with local firefighters. Bomb technicians examined the IED, shown in a picture as a large drum wrapped in plastic with a cylindrical piece attached to the top that has a thin blue tube running down the side of the device with what appeared to be burn marks.
On 26 July 2024, improvised incendiary devices (IIDs) were reportedly used to target the high-speed train network impacting thousands of people traveling to the Olympic Games and out of Paris. The incident caused major disruptions. Security was increased and investigators are working with local law enforcement in the ongoing investigation.
On 22 July 2024, local police responded to a grocery store in the Geneta neighborhood of Södertälje after two juveniles threw a hand grenade into a grocery store, injuring a 60-year-old woman. The woman suffered serious fragmentation injuries and several other people suffered minor injuries. Emergency services responded and determined that while the building sustained interior damage, there was no structural damage.
