United Kingdom: IIDs Thrown at Police after Parade

On 10 August 2019 at approximately 2245 hours local time, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) received a report of two improvised incendiary devices (IIDs) thrown over the Londonderry city walls near the Apprentice Boys Memorial Hall. An estimated 20 IIDs were subsequently thrown at PSNI officers following the annual Apprentice Boys parade, one of Northern Ireland’s biggest parades. There were no reported injuries, but several pallets caught fire. The investigation is ongoing.

Missouri: Explosion Damages Vehicle Outside Private Residence

On 8 August 2019 at approximately 1500 hours local time, the St. Louis County Police Department and St. Louis Regional Bomb and Arson Unit responded to reports of an explosion at a private residence. Police discovered an explosive device had been thrown into a vehicle and detonated. No one was injured, but the explosion caused a small fire and destroyed the vehicle’s console and one of the windows. No device details were provided. Police suspect the incident was a targeted attack.

Netherlands: Explosion Damages ATM and Buildings

On 9 August 2019 at approximately 0330 hours local time, local police and the Ministry of Defense’s bomb squad responded to reports of an explosion at an ATM in Waalwijk. The explosion heavily damaged the ATM, blew a massive hole in the building the ATM was attached to, and blew out windows in surrounding buildings. Due to the extent of the damage, the building had to be propped up to prevent possible collapse. No details about the explosives have been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
