On 9 September 2019, officers from the Muncie Police Department conducted a search of a private residence during a shooting investigation. Officers discovered a suspicious device inside the home and called in the Delaware County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad. The Bomb Squad determined the IED was a potentially viable pipe bomb and removed it from the home. The ATF is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

On 9 September 2019, a police general sustained injuries after an IED emplaced on his vehicle functioned near the Mogadishu seaport. Reports indicate the general was in his vehicle while getting gas at the time of explosion. One of his bodyguards was also injured. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack.

On 8 September 2019, a vehicle carrying civilians and commercial goods from a market functioned a roadside IED in the province of Centre-Nord in northern Burkina Faso. The explosion killed 15 passengers and wounded 6 others. No device details were provided. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but local authorities say a jihadist group active in the area was likely involved.

On 5 September 2019, Lower Gwynedd Township Police Department officers, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Bomb and Hazardous Device Disposal Unit, and agents with the FBI, ATF, and DoD responded to a private residence. Inside the residence, officers discovered a massive cache of weapons which included a military ordnance, guns, ammunition, and swords. Officers arrested the homeowner at the scene, and the incident is under investigation.
