California: Police Car Targeted with IID
On 1 June 2024, at approximately 0500 hours local time, an unidentified suspect at the University of California at Berkeley (UC) emplaced an improvised incendiary device (IID) underneath the back wheel of a police car, between the tire and fuel tank, and functioned it. UC Police responded and are leading the ongoing investigation. An anonymous online source took credit for the attack, claiming it was retaliation for the university’s response to the Israel-Hamas war. No further device-related details were provided.
