Michigan: Improvised Grenade Discovered Buried in Yard
On 10 May 2024, Van Buren Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of an explosive device at a residence on the 50,000 block of Country Road 388 in Columbia Township. While doing yardwork, the homeowner discovered a hand grenade that had been buried in their yard. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Bomb Squad responded to assist and determined that the grenade was a training grenade that had been modified into a live improvised grenade and had been buried for multiple years. Bomb technicians removed the device from the scene and disposed of it.
