TRIPwire, 2 June 2023 On 1 June 2023, at approximately 0450 hours local time, College Station Police Department (CSPD) officers arrested a 56-year-old male suspect after a Department of Public Safety trooper discovered two IEDs, firearms, butane lighters, methamphetamines, and an open alcoholic drink in his vehicle on Turkey Creek Road. The suspect told officers that he was on his way to Easterwood Airport and planned to shoot into the air in an attempt to commit suicide by police. The CSPD’s bomb squad responded and rendered the devices safe. No further device details have been released.

According to authorities, there were at least three reports of four IIDs being thrown at the complex over the same weekend. Video surveillance shows a person running through the parking lot and throwing a device onto the pavement before it functioned.
