Texas: 2 IEDs Discovered in Vehicle, 1 Arrested

TRIPwire, 2 June 2023 On 1 June 2023, at approximately 0450 hours local time, College Station Police Department (CSPD) officers arrested a 56-year-old male suspect after a Department of Public Safety trooper discovered two IEDs, firearms, butane lighters, methamphetamines, and an open alcoholic drink in his vehicle on Turkey Creek Road. The suspect told officers that he was on his way to Easterwood Airport and planned to shoot into the air in an attempt to commit suicide by police. The CSPD’s bomb squad responded and rendered the devices safe. No further device details have been released.

New Mexico: BMM Discovered Near Church, 1 Arrested

TRIPwire, 2 June 2023 On 31 May 2023, at approximately 0000 hours local time, Dona Ana County Sheriff (DACS) deputies arrested a 40-year-old male suspect at a park next to Moongate Church in Las Cruces, as he was placing bomb-making material (BMM), described as “an eight-inch galvanized pipe with caps on both ends, a battery bridge, red and black multi meter device, rechargeable batteries, and black and red wires,” in a backpack. DACS Bomb Squad technicians responded to assist. No further details concerning the BMM were released.

Switzerland: Explosives Used to Attack ATM

TRIPwire, 2 June 2023 On 2 June 2023, at approximately 0340 hours local time, local police in Cossonay responded to a bank after unidentified suspects targeted the ATM, functioning an explosive device outside of the building, leaving traces of deflagration and damage to the building. No further device details were released, and no injuries have been reported. An unknown amount of money was stolen from the ATM. The investigation is ongoing.

Pennsylvania: 2 Explosive Devices Discovered inside Residence

TRIPwire, 1 June 2023 On 31 May 2023, at approximately 1500 hours local time, Girardville Fire Department (GFD), Girardville Police Department, and Borough Police Department officers responded to a residence on West Main Street after an explosive device, described as a homemade pipe bomb with signs of electrical detonation, was discovered by a building maintenance worker in the ceiling of a vacant apartment. FBI and State Police Bomb Squad technicians responded to the scene and rendered the device safe inside the apartment.

Texas: IIDs Thrown at Apartment Complex

TRIPwire, 1 June 2023 On 27 May 2023, unidentified suspects threw improvised incendiary devices (IIDs), described as Molotov cocktails, at an apartment complex on Jenkins Road in Pasadena. According to authorities, there were at least three reports of four IIDs being thrown at the complex over the same weekend. Video surveillance shows a person running through the parking lot and throwing a device onto the pavement before it functioned. The complex did not sustain any damages, and no injuries have been reported. No further device details have been released. The investigation is ongoing.

TRIPwire, 30 May 2023 On 27 May 2023, Winnebago Police Department officers recovered two improvised incendiary devices (IIDs), described as small propane canisters with a wick coming out of the top of them for ignition, which were found in the city after authorities received two phone calls.
