Kansas: Pipe Bomb Found in Empty Lot

On 22 April 2023, at approximately 1815 hours local time, a Newton Police Department officer responded to an empty lot on North Sherman Street for a reported suspicious device and determined the device was a pipe bomb that “appeared as if ignition had been attempted but failed.” The Wichita Police Department Bomb Squad responded to the scene and examined the device before removing it for safe disposal. No further device details were provided. The investigation is ongoing.

Germany: Explosives Used in ATM Attack

On 25 April 2023, at approximately 0230 hours local time, two unknown suspects used explosives to attack two bank ATMs in Furth, Bavaria, before fleeing the scene. Surveillance footage captured a male suspect placing the device in a cinder block and fleeing the scene in a vehicle. LAPD’s Bomb Squad responded to investigate. Texas: Suspected BMM Found in Residence, 1 Arrested

On 17 April 2023, Burleson Police Department officers and FBI agents conducted a search at a residence on the 700 block of Pecan Street and discovered “a potentially volatile substance.” No further details about the substance have been released. According to authorities, the surrounding area was evacuated while the substance was rendered safe. A 21-year-old male was arrested and charged with possession of prohibited weapons, possession of components of explosives, and deadly conduct. The incident remains under investigation.
