Montana: Pipe Bomb Discovered Near Bridge

On 28 March 2023, at approximately 1302 hours local time, Flathead County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) deputies responded to an area near Old Steel Bridge in Kalispell after receiving calls of a possible pipe bomb. The Missoula County Explosive Team responded to assist and conducted render safe procedures on site after a police K-9 detected the presence of explosive compounds. Fragments were collected for further investigation, but no further device details were provided. The ATF is assisting FCSO deputies in the ongoing investigation.

Colombia: Explosive Devices Used to Target Military Personnel, 9 Killed

On 25 March 2023, at approximately 2005 hours local time, Concord Police Department officers and Concord Fire Department crews responded to reports of a suspicious device at the State House in the Capital Plaza area. The New Hampshire State Police Explosive Unit responded to assist and determined the device was “a smoke-style device designed to generate smoke rather than an explosion.” No further device details were provided. The investigation is ongoing.

Washington: Explosive Devices Used to Attack Residence

On 27 March 2023, media reporting stated that a residence in Auburn has been the target of several explosive-device attacks due to LGBTQ+ pride flags displayed on their fence. The explosives were tossed into the yard, damaging the fence and the yard but no injuries were reported. No further device details have been released. The family also reported that hate speech has been painted on their fence. The investigation is ongoing.

Netherlands: ATM Targeted by Explosives

The explosion destroyed the ATM and damaged the facade of the building, but no injuries were reported. EOD and explosive reconnaissance team technicians responded to conduct a post-blast analysis of the scene. No further details on the explosives have been released, and it is unclear whether any money was stolen. The investigation is ongoing.
