The 30-year-old man in possession of the device received severe injuries to his hand and eyes during the blast and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The PPD Bomb Squad and ATF responded to assist. No further device details were provided, and the investigation is ongoing.

On the weekend of 3 February to 4 February 2024, an improvised incendiary device (IID), described by the Wilsonville Police Department (WPD) as a Molotov cocktail, was used in an attempt to ignite a maintenance barn at Wilsonville’s Stein-Boozier Barn in Memorial Park. The IID, which consisted of a glass bottle and accelerant, did not successfully ignite the building, and no injuries were reported. On 7 February 2024, at approximately 1811 hours local time, Lexington Police Department (LPD) officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of University Avenue near the University of Kentucky campus in response to a complaint made by a resident of the home. The resident alleged that her roommate was making her feel unsafe and had been acting suspiciously following an altercation between the two earlier in the day. The resident let LPD officers into the home and showed them the basement, where the officers discovered a jar labeled “Explosives.

On 8 February 2024, Connersville Police Department officers discovered two explosive devices at the front and back doors of a home at the intersection of 20th Street and Vermont Avenue after receiving reports of suspicious devices at the residence. The Indiana State Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team responded to assist and disposed of the devices via a controlled detonation. No further device details were provided. Authorities located and arrested two suspects in connection to the incident. The investigation is ongoing.

On 7 February 2024, law enforcement officers discovered improvised incendiary devices (IIDs), described as Molotov cocktails, and firearms in the back of a stolen rental cargo van following an interstate chase that started in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, and ended near Tontitown, Arkansas. The chase involved officers from the Locust Grove Police Department, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, and Tontitown Police Department.
