On 10 March 2024, at approximately 1113 hours local time, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence on the 8400 block of State Highway NN in Fulton, after an 18-year-old male suspect threw an improvised incendiary device (IID) described as a Molotov cocktail at the victim and attempted to assault them with a machete. The IID failed to ignite, and the victim was not injured. The suspect was arrested and charged with two counts of First-Degree Assault, among other charges.
 

On 13 March 2024, at approximately 1940 hours local time, Tracy Police Department officers and the San Joaquin County Bomb Squad responded to the area near Beechnut Avenue and Forest Hills Drive in Tracy after a suspicious device was found. Bomb technicians examined the device, described as a deconstructed pyrotechnic modified with a quick fuse, before removing it and clearing the scene.

On 13 March 2024, at least 300 colleges and universities were targeted by bomb threat emails, including Mississippi Valley State University, Valley City State University, Upper Iowa University, Truett McConnell University, Clemson, SUNY New Paltz, Rochester Institute of Technology, and Asbury University. No hazardous material has been found. A similar bomb threat campaign took place in February 2023, when Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) were targeted. On 28 February 2024, an unknown suspect threw an object at the feet of a child near a shopping mall in Basel, Basel-Stadt. The child took the object to a daycare to show friends, where it functioned in the child’s hand, injuring the child and seven others. The explosive device was originally believed to be a pyrotechnic device, but a father of one child later described the explosive as a “homemade bomb” with shrapnel. No further device details were provided. Authorities believe the suspect is between the ages of 20 and 22, per witness statements. The investigation is ongoing.
