The ordnance was an Mk2 hand grenade with the safety pin partially out and was located on an “unstable platform.” The WCPD Hazardous Devices Unit removed the unexploded ordnance, placed it into an explosive containment trailer, and transported it for disposal. Upon arrival, LPD officers discovered a woman with multiple stab wounds and learned that the suspect had emplaced IEDs in the home. The Leavenworth Bomb Squad responded to assist and discovered several IEDs, described as consistent with large-scale commercial pyrotechnics, before removing them from the scene.
