    TRIPwire, 15 May 2023 On 8 May 2023, at approximately 0417 hours local time, San Jose Police Department (SJPD) officers responded following a report of a commercial burglary at a business on Old Bayshore Highway and discovered bomb-making material (BMM). SJPD officers executed a search warrant at the business and the suspect’s residence and discovered IEDs, described as containing 10-15 grams of powder, over 100 lb of BMM, described as compounds that were used to make flash powder, and assembly equipment. SJPD Bomb Squad responded to assist. No further details about the IEDs or BMM have been released. According to authorities, the business appeared to be a manufacturing facility for illegally made destructive devices that had been in operation for a very long time. A 48-year-old male suspect was arrested and charged with reckless possession of destructive devices and precursor materials. The investigation is ongoing.

Deputies stopped the vehicle near 13th Street and Maple Avenue, removed the male suspect from the car, and found the dynamite. The Nebraska State Patrol Bomb Squad responded to assist and rendered it safe. The 37-year-old male suspect was arrested for terroristic threats and false imprisonment.
