Australia: IID Emplaced On Car at Home Flying Palestinian Flag

On 5 January 2024, New South Wales Police Rescue & Bomb Disposal Unit officers responded to a south Sydney home after an improvised incendiary device (IID) was emplaced on the car parked at the residence. The home was flying a Palestinian flag, and its residents were described as “pro-Palestinian.” Using a bomb disposal robot, officers inspected the device, described as a jerry can with a small amount of gasoline that had rags stuffed into it, with a disposable lighter, large bolts, and a carboard sign reading “enough take down the flag, one chance!!!!” taped to it.
